As of right now Roxen Challenger 1.2 final is released and can be
downloaded from http://www.roxen.com/download/

(Note that the www.roxen.com server changed network today, so our DNS
may still cache the old machine.)

We are pleased to say that we have worked out a solution to the
cryptography export problem. The application process has been
automated, allowing paying as well as non-paying customers a quick and
easy way of obtaining the version supporting strong encryption.

The changes and improvements from Roxen Challenger 1.1 to 1.2 are to
numerous to be described in this letter, so let's just go over the bits
and pieces that come up as most interesting. I'll do a short
presentation and then give you the brief version of the changes.

Roxen Challenger 1.2 is a major improvement in usability and user
options compared to 1.1. The support for generation of graphics has
been extended and improved in many ways. RXML has become more
structured, tag arguments have been made more orthogonal, and
several global tag arguments have been added. The stability and
speed of the server has also been enhanced.

Those using Pike as tool for scripting, modules or otherwise will
notice how much nicer it has become as a language. The new module
system has functionality for all the things a professional programmer
or high-end web builder needs.

The future holds many interesting developments for Challenger. Roxen
1.2 will continue to be upgraded through the upgrade server and through
regular patch distributions. Work is already under way on the next
releases of Challenger, so that users of Challenger can continue to
stay ahead of the competition.

Now for the actual changes:

Brief changes from Roxen Challenger 1.1:
----------------------------------------

o Added internal SSL3 support.

o Support for threads.

o Major improvements in the Graphical Text module.

o Possibility to get upgrades and new components to you Challenger
  from an upgrade server.

o The external shuffle process has been eliminated.

o Added internal documentation to all RXML tags by way of the argument
  "help".

o Remake of configuration interface. An Actions menu was added, as
well as several other improvements in the user interface.

o Added modules for automatic mirroring of sites between Roxens.

o Tetris protocol added.

o More support for different SQL databases on all kinds of OSs.

o Support for IP-less hosting added.

o FTP protocol upgraded to implement the latest protocol updates
according to the RFCs and drafts.

o Added wizard to Roxens arsenal of powerful tools.

o Support for more languages.

o Anti-Block System (ABS) supplied by Kinkie added to distribution.

o Improved Business Graphics in several areas.

o Keep-alive support added.

o Fixed Frontpage support. (A Frontpage HOWTO will be posted on
                             www.roxen.com at a later date.)

Idonex and the Roxen developers would like to extend our warmest thanks
to alpha and beta testers that have helped Roxen become what it
is. Without your support Roxen would not be the worlds greatest web
server.

Roxen Challenger is released under the GNU General Public license,
GNU GPL.

Share and enjoy.
