[LUGOS] Dell 1558 in Linux

Pozdrav,

pred kratkim sem si nabavil prenosnega Della. Seveda je gor prednameščen 
Win7 Home 64-bit in mi gre krepko na živce. Tak, kot je, namreč ne zna 
čisto nič, pa še plačljiv je. Po drugi strani te že vnaprej MS drgne (da 
ne rečem kaj opolzkega!) za nadgradnjo na drug sistem, ki s strani Della 
ni podprt niti v sanjah na tem modelu (Studio 1558, khm!).

Ker imam namestitveni DVD in že posodobljen BIOS, me ta sistem niti ne 
zanima (razen mogoče v VirtualBox na istem stroju in zavoljo specifičnih 
programov, ki delujejo le pod njim, to pa je tudi vse).

Ker sem zadnjič na srečanju prevajalcev Ubuntuja opazil kar precej 
lastnikov Dellov, domnevam da jih je še več. Vprašanj, predvsem zanje, 
je kar nekaj:

1. Katera namestitev je trenutno prava? Dell sicer priporoča najnovejši 
stabilen Ubuntu z LiveCD, vendar nekako mi intuicija, nedaven test 
Fedore 14 LiveCD in drugi forumi (fedoraforum.org) pravijo, da se da 
čisto v redu zvoziti tudi drugače. Sploh ker Dell Ubuntuja ne namešča 
več na svoje računalnike(?!).

2. Če ima kdo kakršnekoli izkušnje z linuxom na prenosnih dellih, 
mlajših od letnika sezone 2008/09, naj to priobči (letnik niti ni toliko 
pomemben, pomembne so finte!)!

Končna namestitev bo verjetno nekako taka:
Linux+Virtualbox+Grafična orodja+Pisarniška 
orodja+Administracija+Razvojna orodja

Kje je tu vgrajena spletna kamera, ne vem točno (je USB, po moje je to 
Bus 001 Device 003; Bus 002 so vse zunanji priključki in naprave), dela 
pa. Samo ventilator je ves pasji pod fedoro in vseskozi piha kot da je 
i7 plavž, četudi je obremenitev kvečjemu v rangu 1-3%. Kakšen namig?
